Quickly enough, I rushed down the car, and with awfulness watched the entire scene: my father, holding the IV’s inside that narrow space, hugging his horse and saying over and over again: “we can save him, we can”.
The night cast over us an extreme coldness that destroyed every nerve we had. Geronimo, his horse, asked him to walk, to take together a little trip. So they did. In the midnight they walked over the savannah, slowly, and they watched the stars. With some little noises, Geronimo talked and asked things. Together, they went to some known places. When they got back, he decided to take some water in his lonely place.
Suddenly, in front of our impotent eyes, he got agitated and he had to get outside, to the night, the coldness and the grass. He got hurt in the process and fell down with a huge sound. His breathing start to race and his eyes showed the deepest fear. Then, with pain he called my father. Dad kneeled by his head and slowly he touched lightly his neck, as many times before. The minutes went away off our fingers while we saw the horse getting tired and calm, and suddenly feeling good. My heart race at top speed, meanwhile his heart stopped his pumping.
Dad continued close to him, talking and hugging him, beneath the movement of the stars and the trees, which dance through the strength of the wind. And in my mind, appeared the horse, running happily on the fields, and the picture started to blur, as the memory went away.

Under the stars and surrounded with humans, the horse closed his eyes and began to dream.
